CLEAR AND CONSIDERED
A plain-language look at your photos, previews and portrait rights.
Only upload a photo you own or have permission to use. Confirm that permission before requesting a portrait.
Our portrait software studies your dog’s photo (their markings, colouring and expression) and creates a brand-new artwork in the style you choose, using portrait styles we have developed and refined. It is not a hand-painted or hand-drawn commission, and your photo guides a new artwork rather than an exact copy.
Previews help you select a favourite. The watermarked preview is for choosing your portrait; the rights below come only with a purchased digital portrait.
Your digital portrait is the clean, unwatermarked file of the exact portrait you chose. It’s ready on your private order page as soon as your payment is confirmed. Download it as many times as you like for 90 days from your order, and save a copy somewhere safe: after 90 days the download closes, but you can keep using the files you’ve saved.
If we refund your digital portrait, you can still download it until the original 90 days end. If you delete your account or the portrait, the download closes too. We may pause downloads while we look into a payment dispute or a security concern.
When you buy a digital portrait, we give you a worldwide, non-exclusive, perpetual licence to reuse it for personal and business purposes at no extra cost. You can copy, edit, print, share, gift or sell your downloaded file. Print it yourself or use any printing company; email it to a friend as a gift; use it in advertising, on your website or social media, or in your business branding; or put it on products you sell, such as cards, mugs or clothing.
The licence covers the rights we can grant in the portrait we create. It does not transfer copyright ownership or give you exclusive rights. It does not give you rights in someone else’s photo, artwork, branding or other material.
Download and keep your own copy. If you share or gift it, you send the file yourself. The recipient receives your copy, rather than access to your account or private order page. The download stays on your private order page for the 90 days described above, and our existing download and storage limits still apply.
You’re welcome to print your file anywhere, but we can’t promise how another printer’s product will look. Buying a physical product from us pays for that product to be made. The digital file is sold separately: add it to a canvas or matte poster, or buy a digital portrait separately for other products.
The licence covers the portrait we create. It doesn’t give you rights you don’t already have in your photo; for example, if a professional photographer took it, check that you’re allowed to use it for business. If you want to use your portrait as a logo or register it as a trade mark, please get advice first, because this licence is non-exclusive. Our style names describe a look; our portraits aren’t connected with or endorsed by any artist, brand or studio.
Creating a portrait does not grant permission to use your photo or artwork as a testimonial, advertisement or public customer example.
